Terms of Service
Beh.Dev · Last updated 24 August 2026
These terms are the agreement between you and Beh.Dev (“we”, “us”) for your use of Selfwise. By using the service you accept them. They are written to be read, not to be impenetrable.
1. What Selfwise is
A self-reflection tool. It presents questionnaire items drawn from published psychological frameworks, scores them into axes, visualises the result, and lets you set goals, keep tasks and write a journal. A paid tier adds a conversational companion.
2. What it is not
Selfwise is not a medical device and not a clinical assessment. It does not diagnose, treat, or prevent any condition, and it is not a substitute for a doctor, therapist, or crisis service. Nothing it shows you is a medical opinion.
The questionnaire items are authored by us and modelled on published constructs (the Five Factor Model, Moral Foundations Theory, Schwartz values, and others). They are not the validated research instruments themselves, they have not been independently normed, and the scores carry no established clinical or predictive meaning. Treat the result as a structured prompt for reflection, not a measurement of who you are.
The astrology layer, if you enable it, is decorative. We make no claim that it is predictive of anything.
3. Your account and your data
Most of Selfwise needs no account. Your answers live in your browser — see the Privacy Policy. You are responsible for keeping your own backups; clearing your browser data deletes your vault and we cannot recover it. Use Export in the Data panel.
4. Subscriptions and payment
- Payment is processed by Stripe. Prices are shown at checkout and include applicable taxes where required.
- Subscriptions renew automatically until cancelled. You can cancel at any time from Manage subscription in the app, which opens Stripe’s billing portal.
- You only pay for the time you use. When you cancel, your subscription ends straight away and we automatically refund the unused part of the period you had already paid for.
Pay only for what you use
Cancel whenever you like and we refund the remainder of the period you paid for, calculated to the day and returned to your original payment method automatically — you do not have to ask. Cancel an annual plan after four months and roughly eight months come back.
Two details, so there are no surprises: cancelling ends your access immediately rather than at the end of the month or year, because you are no longer paying for that time; and we do not issue refunds below €0.50, since the transaction fee would exceed the amount.
Right of withdrawal (Widerrufsrecht) and full refunds
As a consumer in the EU you have a statutory 14-day right of withdrawal under § 355 BGB.
Digital services carry an exception: if you ask us to begin immediately and acknowledge that doing so ends the withdrawal right once performance is complete, that right can lapse (§ 356 Abs. 4 BGB). We do not rely on that exception. Whatever the statutory position, our policy is simple: email us within 14 days of any payment and we refund it in full, no questions asked — email support@selfwise.space. That is the whole payment, not just the unused part, so within the first 14 days it is worth more to you than cancelling. Our policy sits on top of your statutory rights and never reduces them.
Your licence key
A subscription gives you a licence key. It is personal to you. You may use it on your own devices; sharing it publicly, reselling it, or using it to provide the service to others is not permitted and we may deactivate a key used that way.
5. Fair use of the companion
The paid tier includes a monthly message allowance, shown in the app. It exists to stop one account absorbing a disproportionate share of costs; a normal user will not reach it. If you do, the companion pauses until the next month — nothing else about your account changes.
6. Acceptable use
You agree not to:
- use the service to harm yourself or others, or to obtain guidance on doing so;
- attempt to break, overload, or gain unauthorised access to the service or another user’s data;
- copy, resell, or redistribute the software or its content (see the licence in the repository — the software is proprietary);
- use the service to build a competing product.
If you are in crisis, please contact a local emergency service or crisis line. The companion is not equipped to help and will say so.
7. Availability
We aim to keep the service running but do not guarantee uninterrupted availability. Because your data is stored locally, an outage does not put it at risk — the compass, goals and journal keep working offline; only the companion needs a connection.
8. Changes to the service and these terms
We may change features, and we may change these terms. Material changes will be announced in the app before they take effect. If a change is unacceptable to you, you may cancel — and, as with any cancellation, the unused part of your period is refunded automatically.
9. Liability
To the extent permitted by law, our total liability arising from your use of Selfwise is limited to the amount you paid us in the twelve months before the claim. We are not liable for indirect or consequential loss. Nothing here excludes liability that cannot lawfully be excluded — including for death or personal injury caused by negligence, or for fraud.
10. Termination
You may stop using the service at any time. We may suspend or terminate access for a serious or repeated breach of these terms, and will refund any unused prepaid period unless the breach was fraudulent.
11. Governing law and jurisdiction
Beh.Dev is established in Germany. These terms are governed by German law, excluding the UN Convention on Contracts for the International Sale of Goods. If you are a consumer, you keep the protection of the mandatory consumer-protection laws of your own country of residence — nothing here removes that.
Provider details as required by § 5 DDG are in our Impressum.
